Kelly Morrison has been writing and recording songs all her life and has just completed her fourth CD called Songs Inspired by: The Ultimate Gift. She wrote Legacy, which is the signature song in the 20th Century Fox movie The Ultimate Gift. The movie stars James Garner, Abigail Breslin (Academy Award nominee), and Brian Dennehy.
Other songs in the movie were written or recorded by Bob Dylan, Willie Nelson, BB King, and Aaron Copland. Her song is also featured on the movie soundtrack, which has been released by Varese Sarabande records.
Her latest album, Songs Inspired by: The Ultimate Gift, includes Legacy as performed by Morrison, along with other songs she has written that capture the message and spirit of The Ultimate Gift. Morrison has a smoky lilt to her voice that has been likened to that of Norah Jones. She is a member of the ASCAP performing rights organization.
"Kelly Morrison is an absolute treasure. The acoustic and rhythmically creative songs leave plenty of space for Morrison's smoky lilt -- one that evokes anyone from Norah Jones to Janis Ian. Morrison writes inspirational, smart balladry with two feet firmly on the ground." -Thomas Connor, TulsaWorld Editor
“Kelly Morrison’s album, The Ultimate Gift, put words to what I did not know how to say, enough for my brain to quit fighting and my heart to just be. It melted me. It was very soft, but strong - very jazzy with a touch of more... so real, but still sensual... there was life in it. I played it over and over, and in the music found me. Kind of Norah-ish, kind of Regina-ish... But I am in love. Yeah for new music that touches my soul.”
